Sinlen Reichardt

Sinlen Reichardt is a Bherigan mage and oldest child of the rich and famous Reichardt family, a family whose reputation for magic is rivaled only by the rumors of dark magic that surround them. In reality, the Reichardts are... weird, and live in a giant haunted house and yes, they do practice blood magic, but it's not as bad as it sounds.

Even among the Reichardts, she is a prodigy, becoming one of the leading writers on magical theory by her mid twenties. She's also totally kinda a bitch.

History

Sinlen was a socially awkward but curious child born to Adelbert Reichardt and Sigrid Novik. She grew up in the Reichardt Family Mansion, a complex of buildings, additions, demolitions, and rebuilds, situated deep in the hilly wine country north of Stenin.

• Sinlen is, to some degree, autistic, and in her youth grabbed onto the more sociable Naomi as a shield.
• She was also a mousy, styleless child. Just looked like a huge dork.
• Growing up in the Reichardt home normalized her to a lot of weird things.
• She was more interested in studying magic and the various weird phenomena around the house than anything else.

As she grew older, the weird creepy ghost looking girl with the spooky red eyes realized how off putting she was and started treating people and her appearance in the same way as her magical studies.

• Sinlen, from teenager on, come off as extremely confident, sly and sexual.
• Her supreme confidence is 80 a trick. Her social confidence is, in fact, an act. By acting above everyone and well... being hot and spooky, her weird quirks kinda get a pass.
• The longer someone knows Sinlen, the more they see through the illusion. Getting her out of her comfort zone of rehearsed behaviors can expose her much more emotional side.

Brave Earth: Prologue (The Lyse Incident)

By 19, Sinlen has herself together. She is starting to make contribution to magical journals at a surprisingly young age, she has her style pegged down, and she's in great shape. She is the perfect foil for the stubborn but untested Naomi.

Sinlen comes out of the experience a bit humbled, and thinking much higher of Naomi. After the Lyse Incident, Sinlen spends the next 6 months in San Victoria, studying Vayn. The two start having a fling that would become an on-again off-again affair throughout their lives.

Brave Earth: Tower in the Sky

Sinlen ends up around for Tower in the Sky, but for what and for what purpose is still undetermined.

Post Tower in the Sky / Roleplaying Timeline

Sinlen leaves with Naomi to find Vayn. During this trip, Sinlen starts to be taken in by the more technologically capable parts of the world. She gets a home in Steeton with Naomi and starts staying there most of the time

• Dates a girl with a bird
  • Same type of Bird she fought in BEP. Very Scary
• Becomes a nerd. Sinlen totally read imported manga, but she gets into whatever Shivic anime equivalent exists.
• Becomes a computer nerd. Magic and technology don't naturally work together but Sinlen finds computers are excellent tools for research, writing and even laying out spells before engraving them.
• Becomes a chubby nerd girl who wears dumb nerd shirts and is afraid of turning 30.

She basically foregoes the inheritance of her family house to become a magic researcher in the emerging mixed magic/tech regions of the world.

Arc, Progression, and Character Relations

Sinlen is a support character for Naomi, though she has her own development too. She is super cocky in BEP, but gets humbled, realizing that it's okay to ask others for help and realizing she can trust Naomi. She also knows more about Trevor's sexuality than Naomi does, allowing those topics to come up in game. She is an important source of the "scientific truth" in the game, as opposed to the church versions of things.

In RP, her arc involves a lot of learning not to be a selfish, controlling girlfriend and her and her girlfriend traumatizing each other because they're both kinda feral. Not sure where this would fit into a game, but I can't imagine her not dating Ari and them fucking each other up.

Relations

Naomi

Naomi and Sinlen should, under normal circumstances, never end up being friends. But it happened young enough that it stuck. Sinlen realizes she's bisexual rather young but her advances bounce off the oblivious Naomi who hasn't figured her own stuff out yet and sees Sinlen as too much of a sister to reciprocate. Once they get older, Naomi starts appreciating Sinlen's bluntness while Sinlen starts to believe Naomi can accomplish anything she sets her mind to.

Trevor

Trevor and Sinlen aren't terribly close, but Sinlen figures a lot out about him as they get older. Unlike Naomi, she is not surprised at the events of Tower in the SKy and is one of the people who has to slowly try and break it to Naomi that it actually might have been his fault.

Family

Sinlen isn't especially close to any of her family. Her mother is very like her, stylistically and sexually, but this causes more clashing than anything. Her father, while also a talented enchanter, finds himself more taken by his own projects and is less interested in his daughter's work. They get along and talk about their work, but not as much as one might think.

Sinlen and her younger brother have a poor relationship. Adelheid is a jealous brat who hates that Sinlen seems to get preferential treatment. Eventually he sets out to try and surpass her.

Sinlen probably gets along fairly well with the stray aunts and uncles that live in that giant labyrinth of a house. That said, the extended line of the family is... weird.

Loni

Sinlen's house maid/personal assistant. Will likely stray closer to assistant in Tower in the Sky. Loni is a transgender girl living in a doll body due a combination of dysphoria and a weak soul link. Before Loni hit puberty and got ill with soul sickness, Sinlen would dress her up and do her makeup and let her present as a girl around her. When Loni get sick, Sinlen was the first to figure out the reason, allowing her and her dad to figure out a solution (transplanting her soul into a series of dolls)

As time goes on, Loni becomes less and less the Reichardt maid and more Sinlen's personal assistant, where hopefully at some point, Sinlen can teach her how to maintain her own ever increasingly realistic doll bodies.

Arilyn

Ari and Sinlen are terrible for each other. They are both awful partners, and stuck together because the sex was great and they were the only two capable of tolerating each other... and even that turned out to be untrue. Despite that the two manage to develop a deep, loving bond where even when things are bad, neither seem to be able to imagine living without the other.

Personality

Sinlen puts on a stern, controlled, judgemental appearance. While a lot of this is a facade, Sinlen does have an unfortunate judgy streak, especially with regards to people she sees as less capable than her. Despite being a bit of bitch, Sinlen is a loyal friend. Once someone is one of her people, she tends to be quite loyal and willing to just act like nothing happened even after big fights (which honestly tends to get people mad at her).

Left to her own devices, Sinlen is a nerd. She likes reading, studying and working on magical projects and loves talking about whatever new magical thing has caught her interest.
