It felt like a lot of closure to me and the perfect time to make an appearance after years of misgivings between me and the fangame community.
Those misgivings were over nothing. Early in the life of fangames I took issue with the design choices of a few new fangames, which had no sense for humor or how and when to use traps. Eventually, a few years in, they clearly became their own thing. Like at a certain point a game isn't "Doing IWBTG wrong", it's just a heckin' needle game.

Every time I see 'Look how much better games look on CRT posts, this is what your childhood looked like' showing closeups taken by phone camera of PVMs with crisp scanlines and shit I wanna die like no that's not what games looked like when you were a kid, that's what cameras see also you didn't have a fucking PVM in your house come on and even if you did you weren't cranking down the brightness to get crisp scanlines as a kid or using RGB lol come on

Some of the kids were grousing about a recent Rev2 Intermediate tournament and the cutoff point for 'intermediate' is and how it's discouraging to get bopped by experienced players in a lower skill setting.
