The Brave Earth Creation Story

Origins of Scifera

Sitting in vast metaverse is a powerful, formless consciousness, so ancient that not even it can recall it's orgins. Perhaps the gestalt mind of all existence, or an ascended race, long ago merged into one. This Ur-Mind exists in it's own little pocket of space, purely content, being free of desire and curiosity. The Ur-Mind thinks, but not of anything at all. Any context, language or knowledge it had has long since faded in it's pursuit of purity.

Rarely, bits of the Ur-Mind grow curious. It lets these thoughts pass through it, before discarding them, casting them off deep into the vastness of space, leavng the Ur-Mind once again pure and empty. Strong enough thoughts become Aspects, little sparks of the Ur-Mind's power.

Most simply float invisibly through space. Some become stars, nebulas, or even trigger vast cosmic events, but one of these Aspects took interest in the insignificant microbial life growing on Earth, and by following it through its evolution, and through witnessing the growth of humanity, slowly became more human.

Scifera, whom existed then as a young Aspect without name or body, watched life from its inception. She observed single cell life, silently, for billions of years. She lacked the context of time, making this act almost trivial. Life, unlike everything else in the universe, was like her. It had will.

When the first proto humans began to emerge, the ideas of culture, language and social interaction flooded her imagination. She could see a future. The waiting, which once was trivial, was now eternal. Following the lives and stories of those toiling on earth made her feel the years.

She was alone and wanted someone to talk to. She couldn't wait for humanity to progress.

The Origin of Zephan and the Kar

Now able to growing impatient, Scifera traveled to Mars to create a hospitable world to be her playground. She seeded Mars with earth life, but forged her own "humans" from her own essence to populate it, literally dividing her ethereal "body".

She created One, and then One Thousand more.

The One was Zephan, made from the largest part of the essence. Scifera made Zephan to contrast her, literally building her from parts of herself. In that process, she was also remade. By making him, she became her.

From the lesser part of her essence she made The One Thousand. The Kar, the Mars-Children, who would want for nothing, not fearing death, nor feeling pain. They were idealized humans, perfect in form and stature. Their bodies were simplified and streamlined. She removed excess organs, down to their body hair, so that they would not know hunger nor lust.

Instead, Zephan taught them to use Scifera's essence, to use magic. This is how they were to fulfill their wants.

But the Kar were fundamentally flawed. They wanted for nothing. They the lacked the right human context for happiness and creativity. They could not fulfill themselves with Love or Art, for they never knew the reasons such things existed. Instead, they fell to ennui, and then to rage, lashing out and destroying the world Scifera had created for them in attempt to get the only thing that felt different. Mother's attention.

Scifera could no longer handle the selfish race she had created. Remorseful, but conceiving of no other alternative, she left. The Kar fell into a deeper depression. Having lived in the grace of God, the Kar could no longer live without it and soon drove them to desperation. They became feral, trying to destroy each others immortal bodies, but accomplishing nothing, and achieving no relief.

The experiment was a failure, but Scifera could not destroy them. They were a part of her, and their failure was her fault. So she put the Kar to sleep, sealing them eternally in a tomb hidden on the back of the moon. There they existed in silence, a shameful reminder about what happens when she meddles too directly with life.

Of the Thousand and One, only Zephan remained to give her companionship.

The Rise of Humanity and the Sashni

Scifera resigned her self to the fact that she could not reveal her self to the life she so desperately wished to interact with. She could only protect it, and had to do so subtly. Humanity would be her adopted children. She watched patiently, only intervening to protect the future of Human life (such as during the Toba catastrophe). The only gift she could afford to Humanity in her weakened state was the spark of a soul, the trace bit of divine energy to protect them and help them thrive.

As the millennia went on, Zephan too began succumbing to ennui. For companionship, Zephan awoke the Kar that were trapped under the moon. They constructed the hidden city Lot'lydor in which they could live in secret. Their conspiracy together gave them some kind of purpose that kept them from falling to chaos again. Scifera was powerful but not omnipresent, allowing their home to go unnoticed.

As time went on, many, through magic, left the moon, spreading themselves in secret among the populous. The Kar were disgusted by the crude technology of humanity, seeing them as squandering the light that Scifera had given them. Some Kar tried to enlighten selected humans, causing the magic arts to spread.

Scifera needed more help, so she Scifera creates Methannos, a Sashni with an almost paladin like demeanor, as an equal to Zephan, sensing that he might be behind the release of the Kar. To prevent Methannos from going down the same Nihilistic route as Zephan and to spare some of her power, she made him mortal. While he would be long lived, eventually his energy would return to her. She ordered him to capture the Kar, or even destroy them if he must and that he could deputize humans as 'lesser Sashni' to support in his cause.

This needed to be stopped, and not trusting the increasingly nihilistic Zephan to handle this alone, she created the more righteous Methannos from the more judgemental side of her being.

To help stop Methannos from falling to ennui, she made him mortal. While still extremely long lived, it insured that her power would eventually return to her. He was ordered to capture runaway Kar and return them to the Moon. None of Scifera's creations truly had the ability to destroy one another, there was little in the way of punishment. The escapes continued. Methannos grew weaker over the years, which made his fights with the Kar tougher.

The Fall of Zephan and Birth of Kayin

Zephan's ennui turned to madness. The conflict between his love for Scifera and his love for the Kar, atop his increasingly ancient age, drove him slowly to insanity. Something had to change. This lead to a plan that would become the doctrine of the Kar.

Scifera loves us but does not know what is best for us. She wants us to be separate, but we want to be close to her. There is no greater pain than to be apart from her. We must bring her back to us so we can become one.

At the same time Scifera created a new type of Sashni. Zephan and Methannos were unwieldy in their power and in many ways, quite flawed. They were powerful, but did not get the emotional benefits of humanity. They were necessary but it would be irresponsible and too draining to make more. Atop this, Methannos was getting older and weaker, while Zephan's immortal body had gone unaged. The lower Sashni on the other hand lacked the real level of power as the other two. She wished to create a social, Sashni whom would be intrinsically linked to humanity and who may eventually bare children who might also serve her. While not being a near demigod, like the two high Sashni, he and his kin would instead would be paragons of potential. That, combined with immortality would allow them to gain strength through lived experience instead of as a divine gift. Around 500 BCE (honestly, considering changing this to something like 1300 CE) the first of these Sashni was made in secret by Scifera and was left to explore the world and learn on his own.

Only 50 years after the birth of Kayin, Zephan's sanity finally crumbled. Realizing that he can no longer hide his protection of the Kar from the others, Zephan slaughters the lower Sashni and prepares to meet Methannos in battle. Despite being birthed on equal terms, Methannos's advanced age would make this this an unwinnable fight for him. Kayin's divine purpose is revealed to him and he assists Methannos in the battle against Zephan. Kayin, due to his youth, is far too weak to lend much help, but gives enough of an edge that Methannos is able to sacrifice is own life to seal Zephan. Scifera is left greatly weakened by the destruction of two aspects of her self. As such, Kayin is left the last Sashni and without much guidance. Kayin wanders the earth without the hearing again from his creator, trying to perform the instructions Methannos gave him to the best of his abilities.

The End

With the Kar in hiding, magical knowledge slowly disappears, Kayin found it hard to maintain his purpose. in 1916, Scifera has the energy to act. She blesses a woman, Reese, with immortal life to aid the now ancient Sashni with emotional support and stability In the year 1999, Reese is allowed by Scifera to bare a child for Kayin, bring forth Cassara.

The details of Nasaki family (a last name Kayin acquired during his travel) and the ritual conducted by the Kar in 2016 are all worth their own write ups, but the short of it is the Nasaki family fail in presenting the magic ritual crafted by Zephan and executed by the car. A magical ritual bridged the back of the moon with a spot in Bahia Blanca in Argentina (which was facing perfectly away from the moon). The astronomical size of the ritual was meant to forcefully pull Scifera out of the Astral Plane, at the expense of the worth. Instead, Scifera acted to save whatever she could. The massive amount of death, along with the temporary return of Zephan, freed up a massive reserve of power. Scifera, in her first large use of power since Mars, uses it to blanket the earth with her essence.

The process, in it's haste, twists and warps the planet, leaving it an apocalyptic waste for an unknown period of time (the "Lost Time"). But the world recovered, Scifera began seeding the earth with the humans she had saved. Scifera was a failure of a Goddess, bringing only ruin to everything she tried to nurture and protect. The Kar were gone, their essence, along with Scifera's broken spiritual being, enveloping the earth. This essence, the 'Aether field' of magic, became her last gift to humanity. While the Goddess's mind still lived deep in the Astral Plane, her "body" was no longer her own. It's power would be what would drive the growth of humanity in this new world.

This was not all a boon. Human thoughts and fears in the astral plane echoed out as "daemons". The twisted bitterness of the Karric souls in the Astral Plane, fueled by their hatred of technology caused spiritual energy to lash out at Humanity's creations, forcing many regions to live simpler lives. While souls and magic increased the health and quality of life of the average person, discrepancies in power lead to strive and tyranny.

... And almost 400 years into this new world, the Nasaki's are finally returned to earth, as Scifera still hopes to help humanity as best as she can.
