Highscore: The Game version 0.0.1.1 (Updated 10/5/12)
« on: October 04, 2012, 03:58:54 pm »

UPDATE: I changed the controls to WASD to make it hopefully easier to play. Also I made the first room a tad bit easier so there are no more "impossible" jumps...

Here's version 1.0.1.1

Hello guys.

For a few weeks now I have been working on this here game. I don't think it's been done before, but it's a pretty cool idea.

Highscore: The Game is a Platforming Adventure game with some Arcade aspects. Anything you do adds to your score--Shooting, killing enemies, finding stuff, regaining health, moving around, hitting random keys, clicking, etc. It all adds to your score. And the best part is: your highscores save! So you can come back later and be in the exact place you were in when you left with the exact same score!

What version 0.0.1.1 has:

  • Several rooms
  • Objectives
  • Custom character name
  • Level creator (Really crappy for now)
  • Variable jumping
  • Ability to save your game at any time
  • Cutscenes

What I hope the next version will have:

  • Multiple save files
  • More gameplay
  • Customizable Controls
  • Levels
  • Improved level creator

What I'm dreaming that the game will eventually have:

  • Online global leaderboards
  • Online global/local multiplayer mode
  • Comlete awesome-looking level creator

This is the first version of hopefully many. I really hope you guys like it. Comment on what you like/don't like so I can make the game better.

Updated Controls:

P - Pause Menu
C - Clear current save file
S - Save Game
R - Add ammo
WASD - Move, jump
Left mouse-click - shoot nail
W - Enter buildings

PREVIOUS VERSIONS:

Here's version 0.0.1

Keep in mind that this is only the first version.

Thanks!

Games should never require arrow keys and the mouse unless it's for lefties.  Change moving left and right to A and D respectively, and change jump to W or Space and make reload R or something.  Make all of the keys in that general vicinity.  Forcing the use of arrow keys to move and then A to reload (I believe it was A) is just terrible.  Why would anyone want to move from one side of the keyboard to the complete opposite site just to reload?  It's disorienting and confusing.

Okay. I'll fix it. Thanks Wolsk!

EDIT: Changed controls.
