So looking at your standing point, you are at the edge of a plains with many bushes.

Look more carefully at the plains, making sure they aren't some sort of illusion hiding something much more interesting.

As you look at the plains, they seem to shift around in different places, making bushes look like they are in place but are really not. You see a person running off in the distance.

Decide it must be an illusion like the bushes, and start to dig, looking for Sam underground.
